What is traffic cloaking?

Traffic cloaking shows different content to different visitors based on their characteristics. Bots, moderators, and unwanted traffic see a "safe page" (compliant content), while real users see your actual offer. This protects your campaigns from ad network bans and competitor spying.

Is cloaking legal?

Cloaking itself is a technology, not inherently legal or illegal. It's commonly used for legitimate purposes like A/B testing, bot protection, and fraud prevention. However, using cloaking to show deceptive content or violate ad network terms of service is against their policies. Always ensure your offers comply with applicable laws and platform rules.

Will cloaking slow down my page?

What traffic sources does CloakRadar support?

Campaign Issues

My tracking link shows a 404 error

Possible causes:

  • Campaign is deleted or inactive
  • Tracking domain is not configured
  • Campaign URL slug is incorrect

Solution: Check your campaign status in the dashboard. Ensure the campaign is active and the tracking domain is properly set up.

All my traffic is being cloaked/blocked

Possible causes:

  • Detection level is too high (Paranoid mode)
  • Country filter doesn't match your traffic
  • Device/browser filters are too restrictive

Solution:

  1. Lower bot detection from "High/Paranoid" to "Medium"
  2. Check that your geo filter includes the countries you're targeting
  3. Review filter logs to see why clicks are being blocked

Bots are getting through to my offer

Solution:

  1. Increase bot detection level to "High"
  2. Enable VPN/proxy detection
  3. Enable datacenter IP blocking
  4. Enable JavaScript fingerprinting (requires JS snippet)
  5. Enable behavioral analysis

My campaign was auto-paused

Possible causes:

  • Daily click cap reached
  • Total click cap reached
  • Budget limit reached
  • Schedule outside active hours

Solution: Check campaign settings. Increase caps or adjust schedule as needed. Paused campaigns resume automatically the next day if using daily caps.

Filtering Issues

How do I know if someone is using a VPN?

CloakRadar detects VPNs using multiple methods:

  • IP database matching against known VPN providers
  • ASN (Autonomous System Number) analysis
  • WebRTC leak detection to expose real IPs
  • Proxy header detection

Enable "VPN Detection" in your campaign filters to block VPN users.

What's the difference between bot detection levels?

Low Only blocks obvious bots (search engine crawlers)
Medium Blocks most bots, good balance for most campaigns
High Aggressive detection, may catch edge cases
Paranoid Maximum filtering, may affect some legitimate users

Recommendation: Start with "Medium" and adjust based on results.

Can I whitelist specific IPs or user agents?

Yes! Go to your campaign's Filters tab and:

  • Add IPs to the whitelist (they'll always see your offer)
  • Add user agent patterns to the whitelist
  • Use URL parameters to bypass filters (e.g., ?bypass=secretkey)

How does behavioral analysis work?

Behavioral analysis tracks how visitors interact with your page:

  • Mouse movements: Real users have random, curved movements; bots move in straight lines
  • Scroll patterns: Humans scroll naturally; bots scroll programmatically
  • Keyboard timing: Typing patterns are unique to humans

Conversion Tracking

Conversions aren't being tracked

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Verify your postback URL is correct
  2. Check that the click ID is being passed correctly
  3. Test the postback manually using a browser or curl
  4. Check the conversion logs in your dashboard

Common issues:

  • Click ID token not replaced properly
  • Postback URL has wrong protocol (http vs https)
  • Affiliate network not firing the postback

How do I set up postback conversion tracking?

  1. In CloakRadar, go to your campaign settings
  2. Copy the postback URL: https://track.cloakradar.pro/postback?clickid={clickid}&payout={payout}
  3. In your affiliate network, add this as a postback/pixel URL
  4. Replace {clickid} with your network's clickid token
  5. Test a conversion to verify it's working

Can I track conversions from multiple offers?

Yes! Each conversion is associated with a click ID, which links to the specific campaign and offer. You can track unlimited conversions across all your campaigns.

Technical Questions

What is JA3/JA4 fingerprinting?

JA3/JA4 fingerprinting analyzes the TLS (SSL) handshake when a client connects. Each browser and bot has a unique "fingerprint" based on the cipher suites and extensions it supports.

This allows us to:

  • Detect headless browsers (Puppeteer, Playwright)
  • Identify automation frameworks (Selenium)
  • Spot programming language HTTP clients (Python, Node.js)
  • Verify real browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

How do I add the JavaScript fingerprinting snippet?

Add this code before the closing </body> tag on your landing page:

When you reach your monthly click limit:

  • Your campaigns continue to work
  • Additional clicks are tracked but limited features apply
  • You'll receive a notification to upgrade

We recommend upgrading before reaching your limit to ensure uninterrupted service.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes! You can change your plan anytime:

  • Upgrade: Takes effect immediately. You're charged the prorated difference.
  • Downgrade: Takes effect at the end of your billing period.

Go to Settings > Billing to manage your plan.
